Mrs. Fathema Ismail
Founder President
“My country is the extension of my home, and I do for other children what I have so courageously done for my own children” is the resounding belief of the revered soul Late Mrs. Fathema Ismail – Padmashri and a member of Parliament.
Her indomitable spirit and relentless will to work, made her one of the greatest social workers that India has ever produced. The Fellowship of the Physically Handicapped is forever indebted to her.
Every contribution to FPH directly transforms lives—turning dependence into self-reliance, exclusion into inclusion, and potential into productivity.

About our foundation
In 1956, Fathema Ismail founded a small workshop in thatched barracks with just seven trainees and three vocational activities. Today, the organization has grown significantly, training 175 beneficiaries across 10 vocational departments. All vocational training is provided free of cost, along with comprehensive support facilities including hostel accommodation, lunch, pick-up and drop services, medical care, and educational assistance.
FPH serves adults with orthopaedic and mild mental disabilities in the age group of 18 to 40 years. No prior educational qualification is required. The institution remains fully inclusive, welcoming persons with disabilities regardless of their literacy level, caste, creed, gender, or religion.
